APPLICATION OF MODERN APPROACHES TO GESTATIONAL DIABETES MELLITUS DIAGNOSTICS
Abstract
The course of pregnancy and its outcomes in 100 women with gestational diabetes mellitus diagnosed on the basis of modern criteria have been analyzed. The first group consisted of 39 pregnant women whose gestational diabetes mellitus was diagnosed before a 24-week pregnancy term, the second group included 61 pregnant patients with gestational diabetes mellitus identified after a 24-week term. The overweight baby occurrence rate (over 90 percentile) is statistically higher for the Group 1 mothers (51.3 %) compared to Group 2 (21.3 %, p < 0.01). The same is true for the number of babies belonging to 3rd health category (17.9 % and 4.9 %, respectively). The analysis facilitates an optimal approach to monitoring pregnancy in such patients.
