<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The study aims to review the current evidence of the effects of vitamin D on immunity and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Material and methods. The analysis of scientific literature sources in the databases PubMed,eLIBRARY.RU, etc. is made. The keywords used are vitamin D, immunity, and COVID-19. Results. Vitamin D affects innate cellular and acquired immunity. Its immunomodulatory effect is associated with the activation of antiviralactivity, the influence on the differentiation of T-lymphocytes, and a decrease in the synthesis of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Research confirms a clear link between low vitamin D levels and a range of infectious diseases, includingseverity and mortality from the COVID-19. One of the promising areas in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 can be the administration of vitamin D, which supports antiviral immunity and reduces the effects of the cytokinestorm.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>витамин D</kwd><kwd>иммунитет</kwd><kwd>острые респираторные заболевания</kwd><kwd>COVID-19</kwd><kwd>SARS-CoV-2.</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>vitamin D</kwd><kwd>immunity</kwd><kwd>acute respiratory diseases</kwd><kwd>COVID-19</kwd><kwd>SARS-CoV-2.</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Bikle D.
